Coleman Training have recently seen their first learners complete the Level 2 Adult Care Certificate, Caroline Coleman, CEO, Coleman Training tells us more about the qualification plus we hear from one the learners about their experience.
At Coleman Training, we’ve had a really positive experience delivering the Level 2 Certificate in Adult Care through the ΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ offer. It’s been great to see how well our approach has worked for learners, and for their managers too.
We’ve built the qualification around our own video-led learning and resource books for each unit, which makes the content easy to follow and much more engaging. Learners can dip in and out at their own pace, which has been especially useful for busy staff and those who haven’t studied in a while. We have also encouraged learners to watch our popular video-based Study Skills workshop to prepare them for their qualification with information about how the qualification is delivered, what command verbs mean and how to manage their learning.
What’s worked really well is giving learners options for how they’re assessed. Some prefer to chat things through in professional discussions (so there’s less writing), while others have created posters or infographics to use in their workplace. These are uploaded as evidence, making it all feel more relevant and practical.
Our assessors are there to support learners every step of the way, which really helps build confidence. One learner, Betty, started out feeling unsure but quickly found her stride—and now she’s planning to move on to the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care. It’s been fantastic to watch that journey unfold.
We’ve also had great feedback from employers about accessing funding. Many told us they found the LDSS portal much easier to use than expected, which made accessing the funding simple and straightforward.
All in all, it’s been a flexible, supportive experience that’s made a real difference—not just for individual learners, but for teams and services too. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Betty on being one of the first learners in the country to achieve their Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate.
Speaking of her experience in a video for Coleman Training, Betty said:
I took this course because I wanted to learn more about my role as a carer and to improve the support that I provide.
The training helped me to better my understanding of the principles behind the care I provide and boosted my confidence.
One of my biggest learning moments was gaining a deeper understanding of person-centred care.
I’m proud of myself as I’ve become more attentive to individuals and their needs, and more aware of how my actions and communication can impact on a person's wellbeing. The safeguarding module really changed the way I approached safeguarding in my day-to-day work and it also made me more confident in protecting vulnerable adults.
Now I feel like I need to do more, I need to keep on learning so I want to go for my Level 3 and in future I would like to go on to be a social worker.
The advice I would give to anyone planning to do their Level 2 is stay committed, take your time and don’t be afraid to ask for help. This qualification will definitely improve your skills and confidence as a carer.
