We're working in collaboration with awarding organisations to develop new qualifications needed in the care sector that are high quality, consistent and well understood.

There are currently seven qualifications for adult social care.

Approval process

We have a process of approval for RQF qualifications against specifications developed in consultation with employers, the Department of Health & Social Care and other stakeholders in adult social care.

If you are an Awarding Organisation looking to develop the qualifications listed above, please email  NWDCS@skillsforcare.org.uk in the first instance.

Assessment Principles

Create a consistent approach to the assessment of qualifications in the sector and support awarding organisations’ quality assurance processes. The principles set out the minimum expected expectations and approaches for assessment and internal quality assurance.

΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ and Development has updated the shared assessment principles to support high-quality, consistent assessment and quality assurance of qualifications for the social care, social work, early years and childcare workforces throughout the UK. The principles have been developed collaboratively by partners across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
