Celebrating excellence in supporting nursing education

Take a look at some of the providers who have shown exemplary leadership in enabling social care nursing placements.

We are proud to recognise universities, colleges, and social care providers that demonstrate exceptional commitment to developing future nursing professionals who understand and value social care as part of an integrated health and care system.

By meeting the Strategy to enable social care placements for student nurses and nursing associates recommendations, these organisations show strong leadership, innovation, and dedication to delivering high‑quality practice learning environments and curriculum content aligned to the ambitions of the 10 year plan for Health.

Their efforts are giving nursing students valuable hands‑on social care experience and helping to build a more confident, capable, and highly-skilled nursing workforce for the future.

If you're a provider embedding the strategies recommendations take a look at the commendation process to apply for the gold award.

Gold award commendation

Students are immersed in person-centred, relationship-based care. They develop communication skills, build trust, understand families, and see the realities of long-term conditions such as dementia and frailty in a way that simply isn’t possible in short hospital stays. What’s striking is that almost all of them say the same thing, they’re genuinely surprised by what we do in social care. They come in with one perception but leave with a completely different understanding of the complexity, responsibility, and skill involved in delivering high-quality care in this setting.

At CareFirst24 we are incredibly proud to have met the recommendations of the student strategy, as a complex homecare provider enabling practice learning in people's own homes is in our view essential to understanding high quality person-centred care.
